Lori B. McEwen, Ph.D.
I Believe that Purpose, Power & Partnership are keys to educational change.
I’ve wanted to achieve social justice through education since I was 17. (Truly, my high school yearbook lists “Superintendent” as my ambition!)
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of learning from and with many great teachers, thinkers, leaders and students. I have taught and led in suburban, urban and charter school districts; provided professional development on creating PLCs, distributing leadership and revising curriculum and assessments; taught courses in teacher leadership; evaluated large-scale educational programs and researched and written about leadership. These varied experiences have given me the knowledge and skills to lead and support educators and have shaped my vision of what is possible for all students.
I believe that the mission of schools is to educate and inspire all children to realize their best selves and that we achieve that mission by holding all children to high expectations, supporting one another to do our best work each day, and holding one another accountable to our commitments to children. It is through living that mission that we achieve our vision: schools that functions as a dynamic and innovative learning communities graduating inquisitive critical thinkers who are prepared for the rigors and joys of college, career, and life.
